The 1990 L-model introduced the second-generation RC36 VFR750F, with a new aluminium frame, a single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm, 41 mm cartridge fork and wider 17-inch wheels carrying a 170-section rear tyre. Valve adjustment moved to shim-under-bucket. It was heavier than the RC24 but more refined and stable, and was widely praised as a polished all-round road bike.
